Common Mistakes
Using the Wrong Formula for Your Scheme
The most common mistake. A student on the 2022 scheme using the old formula would get 72.5% instead of the correct 80% for a CGPA of 8.0. Always verify your scheme first.
Using CBSE's ×9.5 Multiplier for VTU
CBSE boards use Percentage = CGPA × 9.5. This is not applicable to VTU. Using it gives wrong results — for CGPA 8.0, CBSE would give 76%, but VTU gives 72.5% (old) or 80% (new).
Averaging SGPAs Without Credit Weighting
